Sharing Our Research-Practice Partnerships in Toronto, Canada

UCLA graduate student researchers working in partnership with teachers and staff at both community schools joined 15,000 other researchers at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association in Toronto in early April. Highlights included a lively roundtable presentation on what and how graduate students learn in partnership with teachers at the community schools–a strong testimony to the mutual benefits of university-assisted community schools. Other highlights included a packed session entitled, Challenging the Grammar of Schooling, with discussants Larry Cuban and Michael Fullan, as well as an Invited Presidential Session on reimagining neighborhood schools in urban communities. Presenting researchers included: Rebecca Cooper Geller, Sidronio Jacobo, Ung-Sang Lee, Shante Stuart McQueen, Marco Murillo, Karen Hunter Quartz, Karla Rivera-Torres, and Evelyn Wang. Click here for more information about UCLA presentations at AERA.
