In this article, Karen Hunter Quartz, Carola Suárez-Orozco and Marcelo M. Suárez-Orozco assert that strong school communities hold the key to establishing a college-going culture, especially for immigrant students. By working together with parents, students, teachers, researchers, and like-minded philanthropic partners, schools will reach the true north of excellence, engagement, and equity. The authors share their experience and how they have learned firsthand about the value and potential of authentic partnerships across communities in our ever more diverse and unequal city schools.
